津軽三味線小山流三代目として、幼少より、祖父小山流宗家　小山貢翁より津軽三味線の指導を受ける。

2001・2002年4月（財）日本民謡協会津軽三味線コンクールにて優秀賞を連続受賞。

小山流の公演以外にも数多くの舞台をこなす傍ら、レコーディング、ＴＶ、ＣＭ等、他多方面にて活躍中。

As the 3rd head of Tsugaru Shamisen Oyama-kai, Yutaka began learning Tsugaru Shamisen under his grandfather, the 1st head of Oyama-kai Mitsuou Oyama, from a very young age.

He has won Outstanding Player Awards twice in a row at the Tsugaru Shamisen competition by Japan Folk Association in 2001 and 2002.

Besides Oyama-kai performances, he has participated broadly in recordings, TVs, commercials etc.
